Finally...Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

Please don't throw this post in my face if I change my mind, but I'm pretty sure that I've finally made some decisions about my life!

The first decision is pretty insignificant, but I'm gonna mention it anyway. I've decided to learn to play the guitar. One of my New Year's Resolutions (a post I started but never finished, so finally deleted) is to learn to play an instrument. My mom protested that I already know how to play one (three actually; piano-barely, clarinet, and tenor sax) and that my clarinet currently resides in our garage. I countered that this time I don't want to play anything that goes anywhere near my mouth. I'd LOVE to learn to play the piano better, but I don't have a piano handy, so I had to think of some other options. I narrowed it down to three; the cello, the violin, and the guitar. I x'ed the cello because it was too pricey for something I'm not positive I'll stick with, I vetoed the guitar because so many people either play or are learning to play the guitar, and I hesitated to pick the violin because it sounds horrible when one is learning to play it. So, I finally settled on the guitar. It shouldn't matter if everyone else is playing it, I want to learn to play it because I want to be able to play it. So, this week I'm gonna go to the music store to buy one and sign up for lessons. Wish me luck!

Decision number two is a little more significant, but a little silly, too. I've finally settled on a ward to attend. Last year I started attending a family ward, the Ashdown Forest ward, and I really liked it, a lot! When I moved back home, I moved out of that ward's boundaries. My mom wanted me to go to church with her, but I really didn't want to (please don't ask me to explain why not). My other option was the single's ward. That didn't sound very nice, either, so for awhile (longer than it should have been) I didn't know which ward I wanted to attend. Well, recently I finally picked the single's ward. Today I went to all three meetings (for the first time) and it was okay. Maybe it won't be as bad as I feared. Wish me luck!

Finally, the decision of decisions... (drum roll, please)... I'm staying here. At least, that's the plan right now; it all might change if I get accepted into the U or UNLV. Anyhoo, I've looked into the MBA program here and the classes are all in the evenings, so I can still work full-time at my job. It's a good compromise between the two choices I had; I can stay at my job and still get a graduate degree. I'm not saying I'll stay here forever, but at least for a couple more years. Wish me luck!

Well, i'm excited for you to be taking guitar lessons. We'll be able to jam together someday. Decisions are hard and it's okay to be flexible on them. I still go back and forth on going to graduate school so at least you're going.

Congratulations on making your decisions. Don't worry about me throwing anything in your face if you change your mind. I think changing your mind is one of life's pleasures.

I was hoping you would chose the violin because I want to learn that as well, but maybe now you and Cassie can try dueling guitars (doesn't sound as cool as dueling violins:)

I just saw Cassie's comment; I can't believe she beat me by only a minute.

Good luck with the guitar! I wish I could play an instrument, but I"m not committed enough to learn it. Just like I wish I had done a painting in the last year or so, but I have no motivation!
I hope school works out for you. We are probably moving to Logan this summer even though I vowed to not live in Utah anytime soon. So maybe you can come visit us!

Maybe I should learn to play something besides "Zuma." Maybe when I retire. Good luck on everything.

Cassie, playing with you someday is one of the reasons I chose the guitar. I was going to buy one tonight, but I have to work late and won't make it to the store before it closes. Any suggestions about what to look for in a guitar?

Aly, I was really close to choosing the violin, but I wanted to buy the nicer, more expensive violin if I bought a violin. I worried about spending too much money on something I wasn't sure how committed I would end up being. Maybe you could learn to play the violin and the three of us could form a "band".

Tearese, I'm so happy you're moving so close! Cardine, Burnsie, Joie, and I will have to come visit you once you get settled in!

Framed, "Zuma"????

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Zuma is an online puzzle game, I think. Anyway, yay! for the guitar! It's not that I don't think that I could do it, but I don't think that my body is built to play the guitar. I've tried, and it's just so awkward and nearly impossible for me to work those six strings at the same time. That's why I prefer the ukelele or the banjo. I hope to hear you play soon!

Congratulations on your decisions!

I also am committed to learning to play guitar, but I will have to wait a while due to some recent decisions of my own.

It sounds like some great things are happening for you! Hooray!

Cardine, if you learn the ukelele or banjo, you could be in the band with Cassie, Aly, and me! I bet we'd make beautiful music.

Good luck!

Go, Julie!

Oh, and just a random site I came across that you might want to look at in case the guitar thing doesn't pan out like you hope.

Thanks, Sarah! That's a good idea, just in case.

Where the heck is that long comment I posted yesterday?! I came back to see if you answered me, and what do I find - no comment. I'm ready to scream at this stupid blogger. The new blogger is just plain evil! I left a long comment on Framed's blog and it's erased, too. GRRRrrrrr...

Anyway, I wanted to know what you decided about your vacation? Any decision in that area yet?

YES!!! I'm going to do a little post about that this evening, so I'll give you the details then. :)
