Last summer, I had a dream that I was dying. I had an incurable disease that would give me about 6 months of truly live-able time. I quit my job, sold my home, and planned what to do in those 6 months. Spending time with my friends and family topped the list but the one thing I really had to do before I died was go to Paris. I felt I could be proud of what I had accomplished if I managed to check this one life-long dream off my list. I awoke from the dream realizing just how important it was for me to make it to Paris. I didn't know when or how I'd make it over there, but I knew it had to be done. I started to think about other things that I've always wanted to do and hence created my Bucket List.
Having a bucket list really appeals to my nature. Creating goals for my life and then getting to check them off? What's not to love about that?
My Bucket List: (in no particular order after the first one)
* Go to Paris - December 2009 WOOHOO!!!
* Shoot a gun - December 2009
* Go skydiving (hopefully this May/June)
* Rock climbing
* See a Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas
* Paint a picture (that actually looks like something other than a blob of colors)
* Hike Angel's Landing in Zion National Park
* Run a 5k
* Go hang gliding
* Write a novel
* Earn a graduate degree
* See the Northern Lights
* Love one man with all my heart and soul
The idea is that as I accomplish one item on the List, I'll add a new goal to the bottom of the list. I don't ever want to be DONE. I want to live a life of progress and learning and adventure. Hopefully, by the time I kick the Bucket, I'll have a big long list of things I've done that I always wanted to do and an equally long list of things I would've love to do had I had the time.
What is on your Bucket List?
And, if I like what's on your List, do you mind if I add it to mine? *huge grin*

I've done four of the things on your list. That's kind of cool, but I'm sure there are things you've accomplished that would be on my list. I'll have to think about this and perhaps do a post.
I have never though of making a Bucket list, but may have to. I have been thinking/wanting to do a 5k, since you mentioned you did one. I think that would be fun. I try to walk (when the weather is nice) about 2-2.5 miles a couple of time a day. How many miles is a 5k exactly?
Mabye I could go to Cirque du Soleil with you - I've always wanted to see it - we should do a girls day in Vegas - that would be fun.
Hmmm, I'll have to give this some thought. Unfortunately, I haven't been doing much thinking lately. I would probably focus a lot on traveling. You have some great things on your list.
Ever since I saw Cirque Pan on a cruise, I've kind of wanted to see Cirque du Soleil, so count me in if you want to plan it. I also kind of want to see Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas because it's a shorter version of the regular musical. I HATED the movie, but I like the music. I figure a shortened version will be the best way to know if my aversion is the storyline or just the movie. So, if you want to go to that... :)
I was thinking about some new goals as I was going to bed last night, and I came up with: flying a plane, riding on a camel, and riding in a helicopter. Those are some things I would like to try sometime, and I don't think they're already on my goal list.
I also am excited to dip my toes in The Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea.
Another thing is that I want to try to make that cheese pastry thing that you ate at that one restaurant in Paris. You know the one. We need to do that sometime.
I feel completely unmotivated reading your list! The only goal I have at the moment is to survive the end of this semester! Then I can think about other things.
I agree with Lori, we should have a girls day in Vegas to see a show! I would be all for it!!
Cassie, what four things? That's really cool! I'm looking forward to seeing what is on your list.
Melissa, I'm impressed that you walk a couple miles a couple times a day. That is awesome! A 5k is 3.2 miles, so you should easily be able to handle it with how much you currently walk. As soon as I know when the next 5k is, I'll let you know.
Lori, I'm actually going to a Cirque du Soleil show with a guy I know in Vegas in a couple weeks! I couldn't believe it when he asked if I wanted to go with him. Heck yeah! That said, I love the idea of a girls day in Vegas and would love to see another Cirque show! Let's start planning! Maybe this fall?
Framed, I kind of feel like all I do nowadays is think. Hence the focus on my list...I want some action! Ahem...not THAT kind...you know what kind of action I mean. Ahem. *blush*
Cardine, I didn't love the movie, but I've really enjoyed the production when I've seen it live (twice). I love the things you have on your goal list - esp riding a camel! I may have to add that to mine - it's awesome! And, yeah, let's make that brique sometime soon! mmmm.
Missy, surviving the semester is a HUGE goal! Good luck! I'm sure you'll do well.
Melissa, what do you think about doing it this fall? Not as hot as during the summer and will give me time to save up (tickets are pricey and I have lots going on this spring (sky diving, etc)).
thats a great list. I've always wanted to hang glide (but not skydive!) but I don't know if I have the strength or stamina for that or any other physical goals. Hows that for not-positive thinking?
I need to make a list for myself; I'm constantly remembering goals I once had and saying, "oh yeah!" only to forget them again a few days later.
