You see, I love flowers, but they don't love me. I can't Grow them! Last summer when my roommate, Angel, went to Hawaii for a week, her flowers almost didn't make it. They did okay at first. By day 4 they started to slouch a bit. When she got home I was about to give them mouth-to-mouth. As soon as they saw her they started to cry with relief. I swear I did everything she told me to do! Can I help it that my thumbs are black? I once tried to get a thumb transplant, but my body rejects green appendages as standard procedure. My current roomie is planning on planting some flowers outside our apartment. I wished her luck and warned her not to count on my help if she wanted the flowers to grow and flourish.
So, I'll just keep daydreaming about receiving a huge bouquet of flowers at work. In case you're considering it, calla lilies are my favorite - but I'd be thrilled with any!

I love getting flowers too. And I don't very often. Sometimes a customer will send flowers to thank me for whatever and that is really a pick-me-up. It is so nice to feel appreciated at work. It's funny that some people don't liek to get flowers. They think it is a waste of money. True, but if you are going to waste money, there's not better way.
I think I would love getting flowers. I think the only time I did receive flowers was from my dad, one time, on Valentines day. I did appreciate those flowers, but it's been ages since that happened, so I can't really remember the feeling. My hubby never, no not once, sent me flowers. I don't think I'd want them all the time, because then I wouldn't appreciate the gesture, but occasionally would be nice. Expecially on a day when there's no other reason for it besides to say, "I love you" or "I'm thinking about you".
P.S. My favorite flowers are also Cala Lilies.
I love summer because I can cut flowers from my garden and bring them inside. My rose garden had to be dug up so I'll miss having those in the house. I feel kind of Victorian with my basket and scissors clipping flowers and then arranging them in the vase. I get a similar feeling hanging my sheets on the ine.
I also like receiving flowers from others. Has anyone else noticed that flowers from the florist don't have a smell, especially the roses? When I smell a rose I want to get that rose smell!
Weird. I totally got flowers at work on Thursday. They came as a surprise from a client. When I got to work on Friday, they had basically died. I, too, suffer from a black thumb.
Also, they didn't really smell, but I've noticed that sometimes florists spray the roses with a rose smell so they will smell.
I think it would be a fun job to be a flower delivery person. No matter how happy or sad the reason for the delivery... they are sent with the intent to make the person happy or happier.
I've gotten flowers a few times. Once this guy I dated brought me flowers everytime we went out. I put a stop to it because I didn't want it to become something I would expect and not appreciate anymore. He did give a beautiful bouquet of pink roses when we went to the Opera. Loved those (more than I liked him) We have tons of roses around our yard. It is so beautiful now.
Cas, is that guy still available!? Not only did he bring you flowers but he took you to the OPERA! That's amazing!
that last pic on your post is one of my favorite kinds of flowers! Even thought they seem to grow in strange places like weeds.
I forgot to tell you how much I enjoy your blog color scheme. I feel happy when I look at it.
Thanks! I like it, too. It felt summery.
